Jeffrey Alan Cook Day

A Proclamation
August 03, 2007
WHEREAS, Jeffrey Alan Cook was born in Fort
Payne, Alabama on August 27, 1949; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Cook attended Gadsden State Community College
in Gadsden, Alabama where he earned electronics degree. While
pursuing a career in electronics, he and distant cousins Teddy
Gentry and Randy Owen formed the band “Young Country”
which later became ALABAMA; and
WHEREAS, As lead guitarist and founding member of the group
ALABAMA, Jeff has collected 2 Grammys and over 150 industry
awards including 8 Entertainer of the Year Awards from the
Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music;
and
WHEREAS, On October 6, 1998, he and fellow ALABAMA band
members received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to
commemorate their accomplishments and contributions to country
music; and
WHEREAS, Jeff Cook is also an avid fisherman. Every year,
he participates in bass fishing tournaments to benefit
children’s charities in the State of Alabama; and
WHEREAS, August 27, 2007 Jeff Cook will celebrate his fifty
eighth birthday. Birthdays are a milestone and a good time to
reflect on life’s many blessings:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Riley, Governor of Alabama, do
hereby proclaim August 27, 2007, as
Jeffrey Alan Cook Day
in the State of Alabama. I send Best Wishes for a very
Happy Birthday. May God continue to bless and keep you.
